About

Hey, folks! Name's Tyler Levin, but you can call me Ty, Levinsky, Toxic Ty, the Hyena (or just call me anything. It doesn't matter)... I'm a bit of an odd ball. I'm a metalhead theatre major at the University of Iowa originally from California; I'll probably move to Los Angeles after school and try my luck at TV acting. Over these past couple years, I've immersed myself deeper into the metal culture and come to a conclusion: I want to be a significant player.

It might be cliché to say "music is my life" or something along those lines, but it really is. While I give my ear to just about everything, metal is my real love. The music has given me something to be passionate about and the people I've met through it have been some of the most unique individuals to grace my young life. I want to do my part to contribute to the rich history and development of this subculture.

I've a few goals I'm hoping to work my way up to...
A) Own and operate a record store
B) Own and operate a bar/ music venue
C) Start a music festival
D) Find a way to showcase talented artists on television

Of course, this is going to take a lot of time, money, effort, and networking. Hopefully I'll make some friends along the way who'll give me the support to realize these dreams.

In the mean time, I'll be working this blog. I've been inspired to write and just give my two-cents. I'll make random lists, review albums, and give my perception of what's going on around me. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll interview someone along the way. I won't just stick to metal though; I'm also a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy and have a pretty big passion for animals. We'll see what comes up on that front.

Those of you who actually read this, well, I'm just ecstatic to have you here. Feel free to shoot me an email. I'd love to have suggestions for topics, news, and maybe someone to educate me on how the music industry actually works. Perhaps a potential future business partner?

I'm not the only one writing here. You'll see posts from my friends Nick, Jimmy, Jake, and Matt as well.

I'm looking forward to shootin' the shit with you all.

Stay heavy, my friends.
